Winter Electrical Safety Tips:
As the temperature drops, many families may use
portable electric space heaters to help keep warm, because of their
convenient size. These heaters can cause injuries or even worse if not
used properly:
To avoid any problems, follow these simple precautions.
-
Keep space heaters at least three (3) feet away from
any combustable materials, such as bedding, clothing, drapes and
furniture.
-
Don't use space heaters in rooms where children are
unsupervised
-
Turn off the space heater and unplug it when not in
use
The holidays likely brought additional computers, TV's and
sound systems into your home.
-
Don't overload your homes electrical circuits and
extension cords.
-
Plug valuable electronics into high-quality surge
protectors
-
When disconnecting an electrical cord, pull from the
plug, not the cord.
